LayarHijau – Chinese actress Huang Yang Tiantian has once again become the center of online controversy after her name was missing from the latest promotional post for the upcoming drama Rebirth (冰湖重生), published by the official Weibo account on July 16, 2025. The omission led to widespread speculation that her scenes might be re-shot with another actress, and that her face could be digitally replaced.
Sohu Entertainment reached out to Huang Yang Tiantian’s agency for clarification, but as of publication time, there has been no official response. However, an insider close to the production revealed to Sohu that the team is indeed considering such a plan, stating bluntly that “maybe they will change the face.”
Coinciding with the drama-related rumors, an official investigative report concerning Huang’s father was released on the same day. The report, published by Xinhua News Agency and compiled by the Ya’an Joint Working Group—a multi-agency task force in Sichuan Province—addressed viral allegations about her family’s wealth, privilege, and past misconduct involving her father, Mr. Yang.
The Ya’an Joint Working Group is a government task force created to investigate complex or high-profile matters, especially those that attract widespread public attention or involve former officials.
Official Findings: No Evidence of Disaster Fund Misuse, But Administrative Violations Confirmed
Key findings from the investigation include:
Operating a Private Business While in Public Office
Between 2011 and 2017, Yang held posts in two government-affiliated institutions in Ya’an. In 2015, he and three other officials founded a private company—Ya’an Shangpin Business Service Co., Ltd.—under the names of their spouses and relatives. Yang held a 25% stake through his wife, Si Mouxia. The company generated 120,000 yuan in profit, of which Yang received 30,000 yuan. This profit has since been confiscated as illegal income obtained through abuse of office. Yang, no longer a civil servant and not a member of the Communist Party, was not subject to further administrative punishment. The other three officials, who were Party members, received disciplinary sanctions.
Concealment of an Illegally-Born Second Child
Yang applied for a civil servant position in 2010, during which he failed to disclose that he and his wife had a second child born in January 2011—at a time when such births were illegal under China’s one-child policy. The birth was only registered in 2013. Although Yang should have been dismissed under then-current regulations, changes to the law and his resignation mean he is no longer subject to disciplinary action.
Controversial Earrings Were Fake
A pair of luxury earrings worn by Huang Yang Tiantian in a past photo, rumored to be worth hundreds of thousands of yuan, were a focal point of public criticism. However, lab results confirmed the earrings were made of glass and gifted to her mother by a friend in 2016. The family had no purchasing records at official luxury brand counters in China.
No Evidence of Corruption Involving Disaster Funds
The investigation found that Yang had no involvement in post-disaster reconstruction projects, public donations, or charitable funds during his time in Ya’an. Other companies established by the family also had no commercial activities in the region.
The official report appears to be a direct response to the wave of online speculation, aiming to clarify both the nature and extent of Yang’s past actions. While several administrative violations were confirmed, the authorities stated that all appropriate legal measures had been taken, and no evidence was found of more serious wrongdoing.
