LayarHijau.com – Liu Yuning continues to establish himself as a popular male lead in mainland Chinese dramas. His latest costume drama, The Prisoner of Beauty, co-starring Song Zuer, is currently airing and attracting a lot of attention.

Recently, Liu Yuning gave a humorous response regarding reports that many intimate and steamy scenes from the original novel were cut from the drama adaptation. In the original novel Zhe Yao by Peng Lai Ke, the characters Wei Shao (played by Liu Yuning) and Xiao Qiao (played by Song Zuer) frequently display chemistry through quite explicit and repeated intimate scenes.

In the novel, Wei Shao is initially portrayed as cold and indifferent toward Xiao Qiao. However, as their relationship develops and becomes more intimate, Wei Shao transforms into a beast-like figure with seemingly endless energy, causing Xiao Qiao considerable physical suffering. This explains why the intimate scenes in the novel are so intense and recurring, according to Upmedia.

Some readers of the novel may feel uncomfortable with these scenes because they suggest that Wei Shao does not fully consider Xiao Qiao’s physical and emotional boundaries during their repeated encounters. However, in the drama version airing now, many of these steamy scenes have been removed and replaced with more modest and lighter scenes.

When asked about this, Liu Yuning casually said, “If this drama was really filmed according to the novel, I think the director and the actors would have to go to jail,” delivering the line with laughter that immediately lightened the mood and entertained viewers.

In the latest episode of The Prisoner of Beauty, the romance between Wei Shao and Xiao Qiao continues to grow. In one romantic scene, Wei Shao rides a horse while carrying Xiao Qiao in one arm, showing both strength and deep affection. Their on-screen chemistry has captivated fans.

Aside from the romance, the drama also features intense conflicts between Wei Shao and his enemies who try to obstruct their mission, including the villainous Sue E Huang, or Lady Yu Lou, played by Xuan Lu.

The Prisoner of Beauty has a total of 36 episodes, with more than half already aired. Viewers are eagerly awaiting the continuation of the romantic storyline and the protagonists’ struggle ahead.
