Controversy Over Huang Yang Tian Tian’s $360,000 Earrings, Father Only a Low-Ranking Civil Servant

Spread the love

LayarHijau.com — On May 11, 2025, teenage actress Huang Yang Tian Tian shared photos of her 18th birthday celebration on social media—a culturally significant milestone often regarded as the coming of age or legal adulthood.

Huang Yang Tian Tian is internationally known for her role as young Chu Qiao in the drama Princess Agents, starring Zhao Liying and Lin Gengxin. She was later cast as Chu Qiao in the sequel, Rebirth, replacing Zhao Liying, and was paired with Li Yunrui, who took over Lin Gengxin’s role.

However, public attention quickly shifted from the joyful occasion to a pair of earrings she wore, rumored to be from the luxury brand GRAFF’s classic collection, valued at about 2.3 million yuan or approximately $360,000 USD. The photo triggered waves of questions regarding the origin of the luxury item and the financial background of her family, given that her father was known to be a civil servant.

Alleged GRAFF Earrings and Family Clarification

Netizens speculated that the earrings Huang wore belonged to GRAFF, a UK-based luxury jeweler famous for its extravagant prices and elite clientele. Huang responded to public comments by stating that the earrings belonged to her mother, but this brief clarification failed to quell suspicions. Such a lavish lifestyle seemed incongruent with the background of a former civil servant family from a second-tier city like Ya’an, Sichuan.

Family Background in Focus

According to public records, Huang’s father served as a civil servant in the Ya’an Economic and Foreign Cooperation Bureau (or the Economic and Information Bureau) from 2015 to 2017 before resigning to start a biotechnology business. A local official confirmed he had left government employment eight years ago and no longer had ties to the civil service.

However, the scrutiny did not stop there. Netizens uncovered that her mother worked long-term in a private company, while her uncle was involved in immigration consulting and was reportedly connected to cases of document smuggling and illegal activities. These revelations sparked speculation about potential undisclosed financial flows or abuse of influence within the family network.

On May 15, 2025, Huang’s father issued an official clarification, affirming that the luxury earrings belonged to his wife (Huang’s mother) and rejecting allegations of corruption or illicit financial flows. He explained that since resigning from his civil servant position in Ya’an in 2017, the family had shifted to private business ventures. He emphasized that the family has no financial ties to any government agency.

Official Statement from Jiaxing Media

In response to the circulating rumors, Jiaxing Media, Huang’s management agency, issued a statement on May 16 denying the accusations as malicious defamation and stating that legal action had been initiated. However, the public noted the statement did not directly address the source of the earrings nor clarify if they were part of a commercial cooperation or simply private property. This omission caused their response to be seen as “dodging the main issue.”

Why Didn’t the Public Suspect the Agency?

Interestingly, amid the controversy, very few netizens questioned whether the earrings might have been loaned by the brand or agency as part of a commercial partnership. Several factors contributed to this:

Huang herself said the earrings “belong to her mother,” directly steering public opinion toward her family’s wealth rather than agency resources.

Lack of transparency from the agency, which did not clarify whether the earrings were part of sponsorship.

Huang’s young age and absence of any announced commercial cooperation with GRAFF made the assumption of brand loan illogical.

Public focus remained on the family’s history, particularly given the business dealings of relatives and her father’s former civil servant status, which was easier to associate with potential misuse of power than with legitimate entertainment industry support.

Broader Issues: Ethics and Oversight

This controversy has also sparked wider debates on economic inequality, ethics of celebrity consumption among minors, and oversight of wealth among public officials and their families. Many netizens pointed out how the child of a civil servant family could afford luxury items worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, especially in a city like Ya’an where the average per capita income is about 52,000 yuan annually (around $8,000 USD). Some even called for the creation of an “abnormal consumption warning system” to help detect potential irregularities among officials and their kin.

Conclusion

To date, no transparent explanation has emerged regarding the authenticity of the earrings or the legality of Huang Yang Tian Tian’s family income. While her agency pursues legal routes against rumors, the public awaits a more substantive clarification. What started as celebrity gossip has escalated into a public discussion about social ethics, economic justice, and the need for more thorough oversight of public wealth.
