LayarHijau – Two Japanese films that were originally scheduled to premiere soon in China, Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Super Hot! The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers and the live-action adaptation of Cells at Work, have officially been pulled from their release schedule. Local distributors confirmed that cinemas which had already opened ticket sales have now begun issuing refunds.
Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Super Hot! The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers was slated for a December 6 release and had already launched extensive promotional activities across Chinese social media platforms. Meanwhile, the live-action Cells at Work, previously set to premiere on November 22, has also been withdrawn.
According to distribution staff contacted by reporters, the notice regarding the postponement arrived suddenly in the afternoon. They stated that there is still no information on when new release dates may be announced.
Amid the news, posts circulated online claiming that the currently showing Japanese animated film Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 – Akaza Returns might also end its theatrical run earlier than expected. However, scheduling managers at several Wuhan cinemas said they have not received any such instructions or notifications.
In the “Coming Soon” list on the Maoyan platform, other Japanese titles such as First Kiss and Happy End were previously listed for release this year. For now, however, their updated release dates remain unconfirmed.
