LayarHijau – Former Teen Top member C.A.P is stepping into a new role beyond the stage. The singer has been chosen to lead preparations for South Korea’s first-ever idol labor union—a groundbreaking effort that could redefine how the K-pop industry treats its artists.
His agency, Moden Berry Korea, announced on Friday (Nov 8) that C.A.P is currently serving as the head of the Idol Labor Union Preparatory Committee. The group aims to officially launch within the year and has already submitted its establishment report to the Seongnam branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor in September.
The upcoming union is designed to represent and protect the rights of idol singers and other entertainment professionals. Over ten idols have reportedly shown interest in joining, with singer Ailee confirmed as one of the public participants.
Seo Min-seon, a research fellow at the Democratic Party’s Youth Policy Research Institute, is supervising the committee’s public communication and coordination efforts.
In a statement, the committee highlighted the need for entertainment companies to adopt standardized guidelines to ensure both the mental well-being and legal protection of their artists. “Agencies should have clear systems for dealing with online harassment, supporting legal action or content removal, and providing medical or counseling assistance when artists experience emotional distress,” the statement said.
C.A.P made his debut in 2010 with Teen Top, known for hit tracks such as No More Perfume on You and To You. After leaving the group, he signed an exclusive contract with Moden Berry Korea in 2025 and now appears determined to bring long-overdue change to the K-pop world.
