LayarHijau – Recently, the public was shocked by multiple livestreams showing actress Weng Zhenrong, who plays Zhao Lusi’s mother-in-law in the drama Love’s Ambition (许我耀眼), appearing as if she were present in each stream. She wore different outfits and promoted different products, with expressions and gestures strikingly similar to her real self, even though she obviously could not be in multiple places at once.
Weng Zhenrong’s team confirmed that these livestreams were the result of face and voice theft. Using AI technology, the actress’s image and voice were manipulated to create simulated direct interactions with viewers. After discovering the fake videos circulating online, her team launched a massive reporting effort. In just one day, they reported up to 50 fake accounts. Some were taken down by the platforms, but many reappeared in new formats, making monitoring increasingly difficult.
Her staff added that some merchants only need a single clip from old videos and simple tools to generate fake content, while the team’s process of gathering evidence requires significant time and effort.
Weng Zhenrong herself confronted one of the accounts streaming her likeness, saying, “You’re Weng Zhenrong, then who am I?” The account immediately blocked her.
Experts emphasize that tackling this issue requires a clear content identification system and strict differentiation between legal and illegal AI use. This phenomenon demonstrates that face theft for fake content is not just an entertainment issue, but also a serious threat to celebrity privacy and reputation.
