LayarHijau – The fantasy wuxia drama Whispers of Fate (水龙吟) starring Luo Yunxi, Jelly Lin (Lin Yun), Chen Yao, Xiao Shunyao, Yang Shize, Xie Binbin, and Bao Shang’en, held a lively watch party event in Beijing on October 27. The main cast gathered to interact with fans and promote the series, which has been generating significant buzz online.
The atmosphere was cheerful and full of laughter. One of the highlights came when Luo Yunxi and Jelly Lin reenacted their wedding scene from the drama — including the iconic veil-lifting and chin-tilting moments. Jelly Lin blushed and clapped with a shy smile before joking, “I’m just acting like you guys!”
Xiao Shunyao impressed the audience by showing off his martial arts skills. When fans teasingly urged him to do a backflip, he laughed and replied, “Maybe if the floor were softer.” Meanwhile, Chen Yao and Yang Shize recreated a romantic umbrella scene, followed by the famous “Adam’s apple touch” moment that had the audience bursting into laughter as both actors turned visibly embarrassed afterward.
The cast also played a logic game themed around Whispers of Fate, during which Luo Yunxi stood out for his quick thinking and witty responses, earning the title of the “team brain.” At the audience’s request, he even sang a few lines from the show’s OST Yi Wang (一往), captivating everyone with his clear and melodious voice.
During the Q&A session, Luo Yunxi opened up about the difficulty of portraying Tang Lici, describing him as “a high-level boss from the very beginning.” He admitted it was challenging to make viewers empathize with the character since the story unfolds through flashbacks. “Tang Lici appears strong and invincible at first, but he carries deep scars from his past. I had to constantly remind myself, ‘I’m the strongest,’ to project that kind of aura,” he explained.
Xiao Shunyao shared that playing Shen Langhun came with emotional challenges. “He carries a lot of hatred, but I didn’t want him to look gloomy all the time. Finding the right balance between his pain and composure was the hardest part,” he said.
Chen Yao discussed her role as Xifangtao, a woman of natural charm and hidden ambition. “I’m actually quite introverted in real life, but this character is delicate on the surface yet cunning underneath. Blending those two sides took careful control,” she said.
Jelly Lin added with a laugh that her character, Ashui, “starts the story with a tragedy — she’s already widowed.” She revealed that Ashui’s backstory and her subtle bond with Tang Lici were key focuses during filming. “There’s an unspoken connection and emotional tension between them. Capturing that delicate feeling was a major challenge for me,” she shared.
The Whispers of Fate watch party was filled with fun interactions and laughter, heightening audience anticipation for the visually stunning wuxia drama that blends emotional depth, layered storytelling, and striking performances from its lead cast.
