It all began when netizens asked renowned producer Yu Zheng about the rumor. He dismissed it with a brief response: “Fake news, already reported to the police.” Shortly after, however, Xu Lisha released new statements on her account. “From now on, every word I say is the truth. But I’m afraid Kai Kai won’t be able to handle it,” she wrote. She clarified that she is not currently dating Xu Kai, but claimed they broke up in late 2022 following an incident involving actress Zhao Qing.
In response to the growing buzz, Xu Kai’s studio issued an official statement. They emphasized that the actor is currently single, and rumors about him being “not single” or involved in “cheating” are nothing but slander. The statement acknowledged that Xu Kai did have brief interactions with the actress mentioned in the rumors in the past, but stressed that there is no current contact between them. The alleged chat messages circulating online were described as fabricated. The studio also confirmed that the matter had been reported to the police and that evidence was being collected against accounts spreading the rumors, promising to pursue legal action to protect Xu Kai’s rights.
During a livestream, Yu Zheng further addressed the controversy. He alleged that Xu Lisha once harassed Xu Kai in the past, but the actor had already deleted her contact information. He also denied rumors linking Xu Kai romantically with Zhao Qing, saying they were merely colleagues. According to Yu Zheng, the reason the two often appeared together was because he had asked Zhao Qing to help Xu Kai practice lines he was struggling with.
Xu Lisha, meanwhile, gave more details about her alleged relationship with Xu Kai. She said they started dating after meeting at a party in 2021. Although they briefly split due to a misunderstanding, they reconnected in August 2022. Their relationship, she claimed, became serious enough to discuss a family trip with their parents.
Things changed in December 2022 when Xu Kai was spotted entering a hotel with Zhao Qing. Xu Lisha, who was ill at the time, said she was devastated and posted an anonymous message online that was later exposed by Xu Kai’s fans. The actor himself never responded directly, instead relying on standard PR statements.
Xu Lisha further alleged that in 2023, while in Qingdao, Xu Kai pursued another girl from the same circle while hiding his relationship status. Even though he was rejected, he allegedly continued chasing her while also trying to reconnect with Xu Lisha. In October 2023, Xu Kai reportedly re-added Xu Lisha on WeChat and deceived her by saying he hadn’t met anyone new during their time apart. But when their renewed relationship was discovered by fans, Xu Kai allegedly lashed out at her, calling her “disgusting” and a “black widow.”
According to Xu Lisha, she initially chose to remain silent for the sake of Xu Kai’s career. But after two years without an apology or explanation, she decided to speak out. She insisted she never received any financial support from Xu Kai, claiming the only money transfer during their time together was for a specific situation, not ongoing support.
Yu Zheng, however, criticized Xu Lisha’s move as contradictory. On one hand, she claimed she wanted to go public with the relationship, but on the other, she admitted they had broken up since 2022. He suggested the sudden accusations seemed more like an attempt to grab attention. “If it was really heartbreak, it should have faded long ago. If it was about resentment, it would have been exposed back then. Why now? Other than chasing popularity, I don’t see another reason,” Yu Zheng remarked.
For context, Xu Lisha is not an unfamiliar name in the industry. In 2020, she starred in the action-comedy film The Waves of Youth (后浪之鲜衣怒马) as the female lead, Wang Shishi. In 2022, she appeared in the costume romance drama New Life Begins (卿卿日常). In 2023, she joined the cast of Soul Doctor (灵魂医师), which premiered on August 9, and the historical drama The Princess Royal (风起西州), which aired on November 4. Her upcoming fantasy drama The Fox’s Veiled Song (青青狐吟) is scheduled to premiere on August 26, 2025.
