LayarHijau– The production team of the drama Shadow Love (与晋长安) has issued an official clarification following the circulation of photos and videos showing a playful interaction between its two main leads, Song Yi and Cheng Lei. The moment, which had sparked speculation on social media, has been confirmed to be part of filming for promotional content.
The buzz started after photos from a dinner gathering went viral. In one widely shared moment, the two actors were captured on camera playfully smearing cake cream on each other’s noses.

This close interaction quickly sparked heated discussions among netizens. Some of them began to question the relationship status of Song Yi, who was previously rumored to be dating actor Bai Jingting after they co-starred in the drama Destined (长风渡).
Responding to the speculation, the Shadow Love production team explained that the dinner was a crew gathering that took place after a recording for the program Hello Saturday. They clarified that the interaction between Song Yi and Cheng Lei was intentionally filmed as promotional material, aimed at building anticipation among viewers for the drama’s release.
The drama Shadow Love, set to premiere in late August 2025, will feature Song Yi as a formidable female general and Cheng Lei as a prince from an enemy state. This is not their first collaboration; they previously acted together in the drama Follow Your Heart (颜心记). At the time, many viewers felt their chemistry as the supporting couple was even stronger than that of the main leads.
In addition to his project with Song Yi, Cheng Lei can also currently be seen in the costume drama Legend of the Female General (锦月如歌) alongside Zhou Ye, which is currently streaming.
