LayarHijau– The hashtag #胡一天673天没进组了 (Hu Yitian hasn’t joined a production in 673 days) trended on Chinese social media on Tuesday (July 1). The topic went viral after a post pointed out that the actor has not been involved in any drama or variety show production for almost two years.
Hu Yitian rose to fame with his role as Jiang Chen in the hit youth romance drama A Love So Beautiful (2017). He later starred in several well-received series such as Handsome Siblings, My Roommate is a Detective, and Go Go Squid 2: Dt. Appledog’s Time. Aside from acting, Hu Yitian also appeared in variety shows like Back to Field and We Are Young.
His most recent drama was the historical romance Blossoms in Adversity (Chinese title: 花之战), which premiered on Youku in April 2024. He also starred in the modern romantic drama Men in Love, which aired in May 2024 on iQIYI and WeTV.
One viral comment from a netizen stated, “Hu Yitian hasn’t been in production for 673 days. It’s really confusing. Some say it’s because he’s struggling to transition, others think he only wants to play lead roles. Some believe his new agency isn’t strong enough. What’s going on?”
Another netizen highlighted changes after Hu left his former agency. “It’s said that after following the advice of a big fan and leaving Huace, he lacked resources. He wanted to play male leads, but no one would cast him. At the same time, he refused supporting roles, thinking it would lower his status.”
Hu Yitian was previously signed under Huace Film & TV, a major production and talent management company in China known for managing popular artists like Esther Yu and Wu Qian. During his time with Huace, Hu was filming up to three dramas per year. However, since his contract with Huace ended in March 2023 and was not renewed, the actor’s public appearances have significantly decreased.
Despite this, many fans continue to show support. “I think he’s a must-have in the Chinese entertainment industry! He has a unique temperament, looks great, and acts naturally. I believe he’ll shine again in the future,” a netizen wrote.
As of now, neither Hu Yitian nor his agency has confirmed any upcoming projects.
