Ski Into Love follows Wei Zhi, a cartoonist played by Esther Yu, who learns to ski after hitting a career roadblock. She meets Shan Chong, a sharp-tongued ski instructor portrayed by Lin Yi. While their interactions are adorable, some netizens feel the overall plot is somewhat dull, causing viewer ratings to decline, as reported by Upmedia.
However, a new situation arises in the latest plot when Shan Chong plans to confess his love to Wei Zhi in the mountains. After enjoying the scenery, they hear a rumble and realize an avalanche has occurred. Shan Chong tries to protect Wei Zhi but is soon swept away by the snow. Although he doesn’t get to confess his feelings directly, his heroic actions strengthen their bond.
In a recent promotional event, Esther Yu and Lin Yi appeared together and danced the “Midnight Cha Cha.” Esther Yu also revealed that Lin Yi cried twice from the cold during filming. In one segment, Lin Yi teasingly said, “I ate your candy, you’re not mad, right?” while reenacting a hugging scene that sent the audience into cheers.
Additionally, in a recent live stream, Esther Yu joked about the ski lesson fees Lin Yi charges in the drama, which amount to 6,000 yuan (approximately $829.5) per session. Lin Yi responded, “But for you, it’s free! I’ve been teaching you for free for the past 2-3 years,” referencing their collaboration on the variety show Super Fun Skiing Conference in 2022.
Upon hearing Lin Yi’s cheesy words, Esther Yu grabbed a stuffed rabbit and used it to hit a Lin Yi-shaped billboard in front of the screen. She was then heard exclaiming shyly, “What do you mean, Lin Yi!”
This playful act had the audience laughing and further showcased the chemistry between the two. The sweet and humorous interactions between Esther Yu and Lin Yi continue to captivate fans both on and off the screen.
