LayarHijau – Love on the Turquoise Land, the fantasy mystery drama adapted from Wei Yu’s acclaimed novel, officially premiered on Tencent Video on November 22 and has quickly drawn attention for both its suspense-driven storyline and striking visual backdrop.

Beyond its layered narrative, the drama stands out for its extensive on-location filming, particularly across Ningbo and Xiangshan in Zhejiang Province. Production began in March last year in Haishu District, Ningbo, before moving on to multiple filming sites over several months, with Songlan Mountain Coastal Tourist Resort in Xiangshan serving as one of the key locations.

Directed by Tian Li, with He Tan and Meng Yuan as co-directors, Love on the Turquoise Land stars Dilraba Dilmurat and Chen Xingxu in leading roles. The series is produced by Tencent Video in collaboration with Xian Gongfu Culture Media.

Set against the backdrop of a hidden civilian organization, the story follows Nie Jiuluo (Dilraba Dilmurat), a member of the secretive Nanshan Hunters, and Yan Tuo (Chen Xingxu), a wealthy second-generation heir. The two cross paths while confronting a mysterious entity known as “Di Xiao,” or the Earth Demon. What begins as mutual distrust gradually evolves into a life-or-death partnership as they navigate dangerous encounters, uncover hidden truths, and ultimately fight to protect love and peace.

To achieve a cinematic level of production quality, the creative team filmed at more than 200 real-world locations across China. Among them, Songlan Mountain Coastal Tourist Resort in Ningbo plays a significant role in shaping the drama’s atmosphere.

Several key scenes were shot in Xiangshan, including at the Ningbo Songlanshan Coastal Tourist Resort. Its European-style corridors and ocean-facing terraces appear prominently in the series, particularly in scenes involving the restoration of a bronze owl sculpture. The hotel’s classical architecture blends seamlessly with the drama’s Republic-era aesthetic.

Another notable filming site is the Songlan Mountain Seaview Hotel, where expansive sea views are used to heighten the show’s mysterious and romantic tone.

Xiangshan’s appeal extends beyond the screen. Dilraba Dilmurat has previously shared nighttime photos taken at Nansha Beach and Dongsha Beach within the Songlan Mountain area on her social media accounts, further boosting interest among fans eager to visit the same spots.

For viewers inspired to follow in the cast’s footsteps, Songlan Mountain Coastal Tourist Resort is open to the public free of charge and can be reached by car in approximately 1.5 hours from downtown Ningbo.

A recommended one-day itinerary includes Dongsha Beach, a stop at a coastal rock café for a break, the Asian Sailing Lighthouse—featured in several memorable scenes—and Taiji Bay Beach, which ties closely into the drama’s suspense-driven storyline.

As new episodes continue to air, audiences are not only drawn deeper into the world of Love on the Turquoise Land but are also treated to sweeping views of Ningbo and Xiangshan’s coastal landscapes, turning the drama into an invitation to explore the real-life locations behind the story.
