LayarHijau – Chinese actress and singer Ju Jingyi and her agency, Shanghai Siba Culture Media Group (Siba Media), are currently engaged in a public dispute that has drawn widespread attention on social media. Both sides have released official statements and legal responses, bringing the issues of contracts, earnings, and allegations of unfair treatment to the forefront.
On December 16, Siba Media issued a statement on their official Weibo account @丝芭传媒, refuting claims that Ju Jingyi received low pay, was excluded from profit-sharing, or was subjected to long-term exploitation. The agency emphasized that these statements do not reflect the facts.

According to Siba Media, the company invested over 160 million yuan to support Ju Jingyi’s solo career, including planning her acting projects after leaving the group. As of May 2024, the agency reported having paid Ju Jingyi a total of 139,044,543.5 yuan before taxes (roughly 300 billion IDR), all documented with signed receipts. She also received a fixed monthly salary of 250,000 yuan before taxes, along with additional benefits, including a personal driver, dedicated van, and luxury apartment in Shanghai.
Siba Media stressed that all reported payments were legally taxed and properly documented, and they are prepared to undergo any tax inspections. They also clarified that any income beyond the reported payments is outside the company’s responsibility.
The current public dispute was sparked by Siba Media’s recent actions. Court documents revealed that the agency filed a lawsuit against New Vision Magazine and Boutique Shopping Guide Newspaper, claiming copyright infringement. Siba Media demanded the removal of all magazines and promotional content featuring Ju Jingyi’s name and image, and sought compensation of 300,000 yuan.
The documents also highlight that Siba Media signed an exclusive artist contract with Ju Jingyi on August 16, 2013, later supplemented by an agreement on September 10, 2018. These agreements established Siba Media as Ju Jingyi’s sole management agency, granting exclusive rights to use her name, image, portrait, and voice until August 15, 2033. The agency claimed that during the contract period, the magazines collaborated with Ju Jingyi without authorization, prompting the lawsuit.

In response, Ju Jingyi’s studio stated that her exclusive contract with Siba Media had ended on June 15, 2024. They alleged that Siba Media repeatedly breached the contract and forged a supplementary agreement, which gave Ju Jingyi the legal right to terminate the contract on that date. The studio emphasized that all collaborations after June 15, 2024, were fully authorized and signed by Ju Jingyi herself, and remain legally valid. They added that legal action will continue against any steps by Siba Media deemed harmful or unauthorized.
Ju Jingyi, born June 18, 1994, in Suining, Sichuan Province, began her entertainment career in 2013 as a member of SNH48, debuting in the theater performance “Goddess of the Theater.” She gained wider recognition with the fantasy drama Novoland: Castle in the Sky in 2016 and has since starred in popular series including Legend of Yunxi, Hot Blooded Youth, and the latest adaptation of The Legend of the White Snake.
As of now, the conflict between Ju Jingyi and Siba Media continues to unfold publicly on social media, with both sides presenting evidence and legal claims to support their positions while fans closely follow developments online.
