LayarHijau – On November 15, the 38th China Golden Rooster Awards were held with great fanfare. Jackson Yee took home the Best Actor award for his role in the film Big World. In his acceptance speech, Jackson expressed both gratitude and his personal perspective on the acting world.

Jackson shared that he made his debut at the age of 12, and now, 12 years later, he continues to work in the entertainment industry under intense public scrutiny. “I feel lucky to have discovered the world of acting. The road ahead is still long, and I hope to earn genuine respect from audiences through hard work and my projects,” Jackson said in a backstage interview.

When asked about how his view of acting has changed over the past 12 years, Jackson explained that he began to truly enjoy acting after completing The Longest Day in Chang’an. He then spent two years studying at the Central Academy of Drama, a period that allowed him to deepen his skills and gain the confidence to tackle projects that demand both intensity and subtlety.

Although many have described Jackson as a talented actor or a “chosen one,” he rejects the idea of “talent” as the main determinant. “The word ‘talent’ is too big. Everyone has the potential to be an actor because we’re all performing in a space beyond interaction with others. I don’t really like the word,” he emphasized.

Jackson also discussed the importance of taking risks: “People need time to pause, rest, and recharge. Each stage of life has its own mission and destiny. The support from my fans since I focused on acting has been incredibly important. They give me the courage to take risks, and there’s also recognition from peers in the same field.”

Jackson’s Role in Big World

In Big World, Jackson Yee plays Liu Chunhe, a young man with cerebral palsy who strives to pursue his dreams and find his own identity despite physical limitations. The film highlights Chunhe’s efforts to fulfill his grandmother’s dream of performing on stage, mend his relationship with his mother, and face deep emotional challenges. Big World portrays the character’s emotional transformation and journey to discover his own place in the world, delivering a message about perseverance, courage, and hope.
