LayarHijau – The fantasy romance drama Love in the Clouds (入青云) starring Hou Minghao and Lu Yuxiao is currently drawing major attention. In a recent interview with Sohu Entertainment, Lu Yuxiao opened up about her first collaboration with Hou, describing their on-set relationship as both competitive and fun, while also sharing how she crafted her charming and expressive character, Mingyi.
For Lu, working with Hou Minghao for the first time was not only enjoyable but also highly motivating. “We were kind of competing all the time,” she laughed. “Whoever set a goal would remember it, and once it was achieved, we’d brag to each other—like, ‘I won!’ It’s that kind of energy.”
She praised Hou’s professionalism and caring nature during filming. “He’s always considerate and very serious about his work. Even though we often compete, it actually makes the atmosphere more dynamic,” said the 25-year-old actress.
Beyond acting, Lu couldn’t hide her admiration for Hou Minghao’s musical talent. “I only found out later that he used to be an SM trainee. But even before I knew that, I already thought his singing was amazing. He often practices on set and can control his vocal range so well,” she revealed. “He once showed me how he uses his voice, and I thought, ‘Wow, how can someone do that?’ Honestly, I’m his fan.”
When asked if Hou had tried teaching her to sing, Lu smiled. “He did try, but singing isn’t something you can just learn overnight. It’s talent and training combined. I really admire people who can sing beautifully.”
If she and Hou were to perform together on stage one day, Lu said she would rather dance than sing. “I’m afraid my singing would throw him off,” she joked. “He’s so professional that he could probably adjust to my key, but still—I’d rather just stand and move my hands.” When the interviewer mentioned the idea of a sexy Trouble Maker-style performance, she laughed, “If there’s a chance in the future, why not?”
Speaking about her character Mingyi—known for her adorable and expressive mannerisms—Lu revealed that most of those moments weren’t scripted. “Almost all of Mingyi’s cute expressions were spontaneous. They came naturally from the moment. I didn’t plan them in advance. Sometimes I rewatch those scenes and think, ‘Wow, that’s actually really cute,’” she said.
Despite being praised for playing a clever and captivating character, Lu hopes viewers can separate her real-life personality from her roles. “In real life, I react slowly and my thoughts tend to jump around,” she admitted. “I’m afraid people will assume my characters are like that too, just because I am. I hope audiences can see the difference and focus on the role itself.”
In this candid interview, Lu Yuxiao showed both her playfulness and depth as an actress. Beneath her sweet demeanor lies a thoughtful performer who takes her craft seriously—and her healthy, friendly rivalry with Hou Minghao seems to be one of the secrets behind their undeniable chemistry on screen, making Love in the Clouds one of the most talked-about dramas of the season.
