LayarHijau – The latest Wuxia drama Blood River (暗河传) held a Meet & Greet in Beijing on the afternoon of October 21. Main cast members Gong Jun, Peng Xiaoran, Qiao Zhenyu, Chang Huasen, Yang Yutong, Kong Xueer, Zhang Shi’an, and Zhang Weina attended to interact directly with fans.
During the casual talk session, Gong Jun introduced his character, Su Muyu, as a kind-hearted figure who upholds strong principles. He explained that, under his father’s guidance, Su Muyu deeply values promises, giving rise to his signature “three non-acceptances.” When asked if he also has “three non-acceptances” in real life, Gong Jun humorously replied, “I don’t accept being a professional singer,” prompting fans to shout, “Sing one song!” and filling the room with laughter.
He added two other “non-acceptances”: “As a Chengdu native, I don’t accept anyone who doesn’t eat zhe’ergen (a local herb), and I don’t accept anyone who hasn’t watched Blood River.” His answers were met with cheers and laughter from the audience.
Peng Xiaoran, who plays Mu Yumo, along with Zhang Shi’an (Tang Lianyue), also recreated one of the drama’s iconic lines. When Zhang Shi’an delivered the line, “Lord Xuanwu, I still remember the warmth of your embrace that night,” the room erupted in applause, while Zhang Shi’an playfully pretended to escape with a flushed face. This spontaneous moment highlighted their acting skills and off-screen chemistry.
Gong Jun then picked up a paper-oil umbrella prop from the drama and recited Su Muyu’s signature line, “Blades scatter like evening rain; my sword shines like a rainbow, one strike is fatal.” He hinted that Su Muyu will reveal even more impressive skills later in the story.
Veteran actor Qiao Zhenyu also joined the fun by reciting his character Su Zhe’s line: “A puff of smoke, a bite of plum, slightly tipsy like a deity.” He noted that the dialect he used was Guilin dialect, not Sichuan, showcasing his attention to character detail.
Responding to viewers’ feedback that the drama’s visuals appeared dark, Gong Jun conveyed a message from director Yin Tao: “The director wanted to portray a journey from a ‘dark river’ to light, so the early scenes are slightly dim. As the story progresses, the visuals will gradually brighten, symbolizing the path toward light.”
Peng Xiaoran added that director Yin Tao pays attention to every comment: “He reads every review, whether praise or criticism. We all value the audience’s feelings and feedback.” She also confirmed that the production team has adjusted the visuals to improve the viewing experience.
The event was warm and full of laughter, showing the strong bond between the Blood River cast and their fans, while highlighting their commitment to the quality of this rising drama.
