After a political downfall, Fu Jin is rescued by the Empress Dowager and enters an arranged marriage to a husband deemed “unremarkable” from the Han family. When chaos erupts, Wei Tan rises as a hero, rescues Fu Jin, and the couple embarks on a “married first, fall in love later” romance amid changing power dynamics.
Sources say that unlike the novel’s more straightforward romance theme, the drama version will shift its focus to female-led political intrigue, branding itself a “women’s version of Legend of Zang Hai.” The enhanced scale of production reportedly fits a high-caliber star—which is why Dilraba is now the frontrunner, reportedly surpassing earlier contenders like Ju Jingyi and Chen Duling .
That said, other rumors suggest it might instead be helmed by Li Mugo (李木戈) of Fireworks of My Heart, possibly under the same production team behind Legend of Zang Hai. The project is still in pre-production, so cast and crew decisions could shift until an official announcement.
