On June 5, 2025, many consumers filed complaints against the video streaming platform where the drama was supposed to air. Fans accused the platform of misleading them by failing to release the series as promised and demanded refunds.
According to circulating reports, the platform had promoted the drama at an investment conference last year, with a scheduled release set for the second quarter of 2025 (April to June). To support the cast and show, many fans purchased “diamonds” (a virtual currency on the platform) to watch the series and buy special support packages online.
However, as of early June, fans had yet to receive any official updates about the release date. Some customers who contacted customer service were even told that the drama would not be airing anytime soon. This led many fans to feel deceived, prompting demands for refunds, according to reports from Sohu.
The reported amount involved in these refund requests ranges from 2,000 to 3,000 yuan per person, roughly equivalent to $280 to $420 USD. Meanwhile, the platform’s top-up page states a policy that “no refunds will be given without valid reasons after diamond purchases.”
The Journey of Legend stars Cheng Yi, Guli Nazha, Eleanor Lee Li Kaixin, among others. Despite several previous announcements about its release, the drama has yet to air. Rumors have circulated online that it might be broadcast during the summer holidays at the end of June, but no official confirmation has been given by the platform or production team.
The frustration among fans and paying customers continues to grow as they call on the platform to provide a clear explanation and a resolution regarding the delay and refund requests.
