LayarHijau.com — Three years ago, LayarHijau reported rumors that The Mystic Nine Season 2 was in the works. Today, Youku and the drama’s production team officially announced the lineup of main cast members on Weibo. The announcement quickly shot to the top spot on Weibo’s hot search list.
“Tracing the wheel of the sky, drawing a circle and starting the Nine Gates reunion, a new situation will begin,” the drama team wrote. They then announced that William Chan, Joseph Zeng, and Sebrina Chen will play the lead roles.
The three main stars reposted the official announcement with their own comments. “Zhang Qishan, the leader of Changsha’s Nine Gates, what advice do you have?” wrote William.
“Planning for three lifetimes, hiding the universe within my sleeves, Wu Laogou is waiting for you here!” wrote Joseph. Meanwhile, Sebrina commented, “The women of the Huo family have never been ordinary. The Nine Gates reunite to start a new situation. Hello, Huo Xian Gu.”
The synopsis for season 2 has not yet been revealed. On Douban, the drama only provides a brief description: “A storm is about to come and the Xiang River is surging, and the road is covered with thorns; the Nine Gates are connected to enter a new situation and set off today.” According to MyDramaList, season 2 is titled The Treasured Baija Book. From the season 1 cast, it appears that only William Chan is returning, reprising his role as Zhang Qishan.
The Mystic Nine Season 1 cast members such as Zhao Liying, Lay Zhang, and Yuan Bingyan will not be returning for the second season. As we previously reported, three years ago there were rumors that Zhao Liying would be replaced by Joe Chen, but this rumor now seems to be untrue.
