LayarHijau – The death of actor Yu Menglong, who recently fell from a height, continues to spark speculation online. Amid the ongoing attention, shocking rumors have circulated about former K-pop group EXO member Kris Wu, who is currently serving a prison sentence in China.

Kris Wu was sentenced to 13 years in prison in 2022 for sexual assault charges. Recently, claims that he had died in prison spread rapidly on overseas social media platforms, drawing global attention.

Screenshots circulating on foreign media show that the rumor first appeared on international forums. One user wrote, ā€œKris Wu RIP, he was still killed by China.ā€ Another account claiming to be a ā€œfellow inmateā€ suggested having served time with him, implying the rumor might be true. However, the sources of these accounts are unclear, and their credibility is widely questioned.

Many netizens have also noted the suspicious timing of the rumor. With Yu Menglong’s death case still dominating discussions, some believe the Kris Wu death story was deliberately spread to divert public attention. One analyst pointed out, ā€œThere are no related keywords on China’s domestic internet, which suggests that external forces may be manipulating attention away from Yu Menglong’s death rumors.ā€

On November 11, the Jiangsu provincial police issued an official statement denying the rumors. They confirmed that photos circulating online, claiming ā€œKris Wu wearing prison clothing and being examined,ā€ were digitally altered and urged the public not to share false information.

Since his arrest in 2021, Kris Wu has been serving his 13-year sentence and is set to be deported to Canada after completing his prison term. While prison information is tightly controlled and hard to verify, the official police statement confirms that the death rumors are false, despite the widespread online discussion.
