LayarHijau– A video that went viral on Weibo on November 27 has sparked widespread concern over actor Cheng Yi’s safety on the set of the historical drama Two Capitals Fifteen Days / Liang Jing Shi Wu Ri (两京十五日). The footage shows Cheng Yi performing a wire-assisted stunt, jumping from a second-floor window of a building. He was supposed to land smoothly on the rooftop of another structure nearby, but the stunt went wrong — his head hit the edge of the roof, and he was thrown backward. He then lay on the ground, clutching his head in visible pain, before the staff rushed over to assist him.

In response to the uproar, Cheng Yi personally reassured fans through a social media post. “Bumps and bruises are inevitable when filming, and I am very sorry that everyone saw today’s scene,” he wrote. He emphasized that the martial arts and stunt team had been doing their best to protect him: “In every fight scene, the stunt team performs the moves first and repeatedly confirms whether the actors are able to execute them. I always consider carefully and only do what is within my ability.” Cheng Yi thanked the public for their concern and expressed hope that the team’s hard work would pay off when the drama is released next year.

His studio later released a statement confirming that preliminary checks showed the actor was not experiencing any serious discomfort. The production team is communicating closely with crew members to improve protection measures for future filming. They assured fans that further updates would be provided if necessary.

The official production team of Two Capitals Fifteen Days also issued a formal apology to Cheng Yi for the incident, vowing to prioritize the health and safety of all cast and crew. They stated that the event would serve as a reminder to strengthen safety procedures on set.

However, despite these explanations, the actor’s fan community expressed strong dissatisfaction. Cheng Yi’s official fan club publicly condemned the situation on Weibo, claiming that this was not the first time such dangerous mistakes had occurred during wire-work for the drama. They pointed to “serious problems with the current stunt team’s professional competence and operational procedures,” which they said made it impossible to trust them any further.

The fan club presented two major demands:

  1. Immediate replacement of the current wire-work team with a reputable, top-tier professional team.
  2. A comprehensive medical examination for Cheng Yi at an authoritative hospital.

They firmly stated that they have zero tolerance for any compromise on the safety of Cheng Yi or any staff involved. Fans vowed to continue monitoring the situation until they receive clear answers regarding team replacement and the actor’s health.

This incident has reignited public discussion about safety standards in Chinese drama productions, which increasingly feature high-risk action sequences. Many hope that cases like this will drive improvements in on-set safety regulations, protecting both actors and crew members from avoidable dangers.
