LayarHijau – The sudden death of Chinese actor Yu Menglong, who fell from a height, continues to spark controversy after authorities ruled out foul play. The public remains skeptical of the official conclusion, triggering waves of protests and support on social media.
Overseas netizens have launched a global petition “Justice for Yu Menglong” through the international NGO platform AVAAZ. As of 3:45 PM Taiwan time on October 23, more than 566,373 people have signed the petition, demanding an independent and transparent investigation to uncover the truth behind the actor’s death. This marks a significant increase from previous counts of around 400,000 signatures, highlighting growing international attention.
Written in both Chinese and English, the petition highlights video footage suggesting that Yu Menglong’s death may not have been a simple accident, but possibly involved violence or forced consumption of alcohol or drugs. The petition organizers stated,
“If these clues are true, this is not just an unfortunate death of an entertainer, but a serious violation of human rights and public safety.”
The petition calls for three key actions:
- Immediately conduct a comprehensive, independent, and transparent investigation to clarify the circumstances of Yu Menglong’s death.
- If criminal acts are found, strictly punish those responsible under the law.
- Authorities must publicly apologize to the family and provide legal and psychological support.
The petition also urges international organizations such as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International to pay attention to the case, emphasizing the importance of safety and working conditions for entertainment industry professionals.
“Justice will not appear on its own; it requires collective effort from society,” the organizers wrote. They call on the global public who care about human rights and entertainer safety to speak up, so that the truth is no longer hidden and Yu Menglong, along with all artists striving to follow their dreams, can receive the respect and protection they deserve.
