Her recent roles in Joy of Life and Are You the One (柳舟记) have earned her much more positive feedback. Now, she is teaming up with Zhang Linghe in the upcoming drama Overdo (这一秒过火), which is nearing the end of filming.
Recently, behind-the-scenes photos went viral showing Zhang Linghe proposing to Wang Churan during a scene. In the images, Zhang is dressed in a military uniform, while Wang looks elegant in a long black dress paired with a matching round hat. When he slipped the ring onto her finger, Zhang even lingered for a moment, gently touching the ring as if treasuring the moment. That small gesture immediately set social media abuzz, with fans calling the scene irresistibly sweet, Upmedia reported.
Overdo is adapted from the novel If I Hadn’t Met You This Second by acclaimed author Fei Wo Si Cun. Set in 1930s Shanghai, the story follows Ren Susu (Wang Churan), the daughter of a pharmaceutical merchant, who as a child saved Murong Qingfeng (Zhang Linghe). That encounter, however, led to tragedy as her parents were killed. Eight years later, Susu deliberately approaches Qingfeng to uncover the truth, only to learn he was innocent. Choosing to disappear by faking her death, she vanishes. Three years later, Susu returns to Shanghai under a new identity as the daughter of a wealthy Southeast Asian businessman. Her romance with Qingfeng reignites, but the weight of family grudges tears them apart once more. In 1937, against the backdrop of war, the two reunite on a dangerous mission that tests the boundaries of their fate.
Zhang Linghe’s popularity has also been soaring. This year, two of his previously filmed works, The Best Thing (爱你) and Our Generation (樱桃琥珀), were released to strong reception. At the same time, he has been busy filming Zhu Yu (逐玉) and Overdo. During a recent event, Zhang revealed that once filming wraps for Overdo, he has no immediate plans to join another project and hopes to take a break. Fans have expressed concern after noticing that he has grown noticeably thinner due to his demanding schedule.
With Zhang Linghe standing at 190 cm and Wang Churan at 170 cm, the two already look striking together. Combined with their strong CP vibe (couple chemistry), many are calling them a perfect on-screen match. Their proposal scene has only heightened anticipation for the release of Overdo.
